In Germany, hundreds of thousands of passengers are affected by flight cancellations each year and airlines have to provide passengers with overnight accommodation. The complexity of these so-called “layovers” presents airlines with major challenges. The lengthy enquiries to hotels caused by analogue processes, inaccurate bookings, coordination problems and a lack of transparency towards passengers result in major time losses and high costs.

Layover Solutions GmbH, based in Frankfurt am Main, has set itself the goal of overcoming these challenges with the help of a digital booking platform and AI-supported decision-making tools. The platform developed by the start-up is the first project that aims to comprehensively digitalise passenger-related layover management. It offers increased efficiency, cost savings and transparency for passengers.
